British Amateur Beats Top Names at World Poker Finals

A remarkable success story has seen Sean Scott, a small business owner from Hull in the United Kingdom, finish 50th out of 783 entrants at the World Poker Finals at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. Scott’s success means he will return home from America $14,000 (£8,000) richer.

Scott outlasted many of the top names in poker including 2004 World Series Of Poker champion Greg Raymer and last year’s Foxwoods winner, Tuan Le. Scott said of his unheralded performance, “I’m still buzzing. I just concentrated on doing the best I could and not being intimidated by the situation or the players I was facing. I’m very grateful to World Poker Tour and will continue playing at WPTonline.com.”

Scott, who owns a tattoo parlour in Hull, qualified for the World Poker Finals after winning a WPTonline.com tournament. He beat over 500 other players in the online tournament to win the trip to Foxwood - his entry into the competition was free thanks to an entry token he received upon signing up to WPTonline.com.
