The Monaco Government Tourist Office have announced that a poker tournament is going to take place for the first time in the glamorous venue of Monte Carlo. Sponsored by PrimaPoker.com, the Monte Carlo Millions is scheduled to take place from November 6-13. It has also just been announced that twenty professional poker players have already stated they intend to attend the event. These players will include the famous Hendon Mob who have did extremely well at the Victor Club tournament in England, with three of their four members reaching the final table in that tournament.
The tournament director for the event, Matt Savage, is still negotiating with professional players and expects more players to be announced soon. Also it is planned for poker playing celebrities to attend the event. Entry to the tournament can only be found through a personal invitation from Savage, or winning one of the satellite tournaments to be held on the PrimaPoker site. So far these satellite tournaments have produced four winners. They will continue to be held until 15 October.
The estimated total prize pool for the Monte Carlo Million is $1 million, with every player guaranteed to win a minimum of $1000. The event will also be televised, produced by the same teams who created ESPN’s World Series of Poker, and telecast through several US and international networks.
