Tuesday 3rd January 2006 PartyPoker to sponsor Five’s poker programming
PartyPoker has signed a deal with British television network Five, which will see the leader in online poker becoming the solitary sponsor of the network’s broadcast of three major tournaments occurring within the next year.
The sponsorship is the biggest in Five’s history with 72-hours of poker programming, beginning in December 2006, broadcasting during weekdays at the late night slot of midnight.
Five’s head of commercial development, Jonathan Lewis, says the deal is a matrimony between Five’s editorial and commercial endeavors. “We realized very early on that poker programming was significantly outperforming station average audience levels in the late night slot.'The deal also sees the beginning of a new website which will include poker tutorials, competitions and free weekly broadband downloads. 'We also saw the huge emergence of the online sector and were able to capture this in one overall deal,' Lewis adds.
