Wednesday 8th March 2006 Saipan Native Puts Poker Before Family
Lincy C. Santos, a Saipan native, was arrested yesterday for the fourth time for leaving her children at home whilst she was elsewhere playing poker. In a truly shocking incident, Santos left her six-year old son in charge of his one-year old brother and five-month old sister.
The alarm was raised when Santos’s husband made a call home to check on dinner arrangements and the call was answered by the six-year-old. Soon after, police found Santos at the tables in nearby San Jose and hauled her before a judge, who had previously given her a six month suspended sentence for the same offence.
Now almost nine months pregnant, Santos was given probation and put on a curfew; presumably so that she has time to consider that looking after her children may be more important than playing cards with friends.
Hopefully, she also finds the time to install a broadband connection at home so she can play online.
