Friday 14th April 2006 Live Sky Sports Broadcast for Irish Poker Open
350 of the world’s finest poker players will arrive in Dublin this Easter weekend with the paddypowerpoker.com Irish Open on their minds. The €3,000 entry Irish Open is the longest established poker tournament in Europe. The main event starts on 4pm on Saturday April 15 and will play down to a final table of six players on Monday April 17 for a share in the €1 million guaranteed prize pool.
The event is being broadcast live all across Europe on Sky Sports 2 at 9.30pm on Monday 17 April. The transmission is the first of its kind from Ireland and will be filmed before a select VIP audience at a top secret location in Dublin.
Poker has now become the third most watched cable TV sport in the US and has proved a hit with mainstream audiences all over Europe. Over 10,000 people have attempted to qualify online for a seat at the Irish Open and as the tournament moves towards its Easter Monday climax there’s sure to be plenty of exhilarating entertainment on offer for poker fanatics watching in the comfort of their own homes.
