The second half of the Dublin EPT’s players sat down today amidst some of the best players in Europe and perhaps the world. Lots of familiar faces circled the room, all paying one piece of this massive prize pool which will see over half a million being played out to first place.
Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot was the ringleader of today’s poker comedy. With his new image, Dave entered the room like full-blown rock star. Gone are the days of the striped suit and red-tinted glasses, Devilfish is encountering a transformation of Elvis proportions. With slick black shades, blue jeans and a black t-shirt, the fish is back in town with a new twist. Running his mouth off at Welshman Iwan Jones for the first couple of levels provided great entertainment to the 3 deep crowd surrounding the table. “Hey Iwan, you can play a hand once in a while, give a poor devil like me a chip or two, it all helps” along with his customary wink.
The day will be best remembered for the early casualties however. With pre-tournament favourite with the sponsors Ram Vaswani, London EPT winner Vicky Coren and WSOP 2004 Champ Greg Raymer all out before dinner. The day wasn’t for the faint-hearted and continues to show that poker is an erratic game at the best of times.
