Wednesday 11th October 2006 New Blog to Help Students Pay Their Way as a Poker Affiliate
Entrepreneurial Owen Rankin has set up a blog targeted at European students explaining how they can work as affiliates for top poker rooms to pay their way through their studies.
It has long been known that many students play poker to supplement their low income whilst studying at university or college. As the game needs a good understanding of odds and statistics, maths students in particular have found it to be easy to translate their subject to the game.
Rankin wants to show students how to exploit this growth of online poker-playing across European campuses with his new blog. “It is so easy to get started,” said Rankin. “It takes no money to start up and even a few hours work a week can give them a nice subsidiary income.”
Rankin hopes that first-time affiliates will use his blog. 'It took me five minutes to design my first flyer and cost me £18 to get printed. But out of that first run, I made over £500,” he said. “That's why I set the blog up – I thought there was a wasted opportunity there.”
