Monday 31st July 2006 Microgaming Snaps up BetOnBet
Microgaming, the world’s largest supplier of poker and casino software, has announced the addition of online betting exchange, BetOnBet, to its Microgaming Poker Network. The announcement follows the acquisition of BetOnBet’s previous supplier Ongame by BETandWIN, with the operator citing a competitive conflict of interest.
The announcement is not thought to pose any immediate disruption to BetOnBet’s existing customers, who can now take advantage. According to Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever, the move should prove to be of great benefit to BetOnBet. “We believe that Microgaming can not only offer operators market leading software and support, but also the independence that clearly BetOnBet felt they could not receive following the acquisition of Ongame by BETandWIN.”
Since its inception in August 2003, and the addition of its poker offering in November 2004, BetOnBet has grown into a successful gaming enterprise with a healthy web presence.
Stian Hornsletten, Managing Director BetOnBet Ltd explained BetOnBet’s decision to defect. “We see Microgaming as the leading software provider within the gaming industry, and with its rapid growth we believe that this is a strategic move for the future. In time we believe our customers will see the benefits.”
